A METROPOLITAN policewoman has been fined £1,150 after she was prosecuted and found guilty of jumping out of a taxi in Croydon without paying the fare.
The jury heard that PC Nicola Elston (28) – attached to the London borough of Lambeth – had made off without making a payment on 27 June 2015 and was convicted after a three day trial at Southwark Crown Court.
The taxi driver had alleged he had been assaulted by the female police officer when he tried to detain her but the jury found her not guilty of assault.
PC Elston elected to have her case heard in a crown court and pleaded not guilty to both offences. She was given a £150 fine plus £1,000 costs and now faces an internal Metropolitan Police misconduct enquiry.
