UBER HAS dropped its appeal in the High Court against Transport for London’s (TfL) proposal to make private hire drivers take a compulsory English Language test.

A spokesman for the American cab despatch app said it would no longer oppose the exams after TfL said it would make the test, “more relevant to the role of a private hire driver”.

I’ve always said that if you want to drive passengers in London you should be able to communicate in English at an appropriate level.
