A TAXI DRIVER and his 86 year old passenger were injured in the Mumbai suburb of Parel after an uprooted tree crashed down on top of his cab.
A spokesman for the RAK Marg Police Station said cabbie Brindasani Mishra (52) had been driving Parel village resident Manokar Kochekar to nearby Nirley House and added: “The tree crushed the left side of the vehicle. Thankfully it fell on an electric pole, which helped to reduce the impact.”
Kochekar suffered a cut to the forehead while Mishra was treated, after a CT scan, for a neck injury.
Chandra Bhusan Mishra, who owns the taxi, said:
This was Brindasani’s first trip in a month. He had gone to the village to take care of his wife and had not even covered 200 metres when their journey was cut short.
