THOUSANDS OF BUSY COMMUTERS and local residents had their journeys disrupted after a cab driver mistakenly got his vehicle stuck on the tram rails at Victoria Station in Manchester.
The taxi became wedged on the tracks at the city centre station and caused delays to passengers using the Metrolink service.
Services to Rochdale and East Didsbury were diverted via a number of stations including Market Street and Shudehill.
A Metrolink spokesman said:
Due to an incident at Victoria Station, we experienced minor delays on the Rochdale via Oldham line. Services travelling in both directions between Victoria and Rochdale Town Centre were affected. Metrolink apologises for any delay caused.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said the driver of the stranded taxi was not hurt.
