A former TNT delivery driver who stole a consignment of mobile phones worth over £300K has been jailed for two years.
Zygimantas Bacevicius, of Southfields, Northampton, was working at TNT’s Northampton distribution centre when he redirected four pallets full of mobile phones to his home address.
The 25-year-old changed the paperwork for 4,000 mobile telephones, including 1,000 Apple iPhones, worth £310,264 and when police searched his address, they found the phones hidden under his sofa and in his attic.
Defence counsel, Paul Webb, at Northampton Crown Court said: “He has brought his career to an abrupt end. His wife has moved back to Lithuania with their child and he is in a far worse financial predicament.”
Tim Spencer QC sentenced Bacevicius to two years in prison.
