A 32 YEAR OLD man has been found guilty of driving his car into a taxi after speeding through a red traffic light in Bolton.

Samuel Olaitan, in police CCTV footage image above, can be seen racing along Trinity Street in a white Citroen C4 Cactus before ignoring a red light at the junction with Bradford Street.

Olaitan’s vehicle hits a black taxi driving through a green light and both cars are seen to spin out of control before the 32 year old is apprehended by a member of the public as he tries to flee the scene.

PC Matthew Picton, of the Greater Manchester Police’s traffic unit, said:

This level of driving is totally unacceptable. There is no place on our roads for impaired drivers, whether that be through drink or drugs or driving dangerously, who as a result put other people’s lives at risk.

Olaitan was found guilty of dangerous driving, drink driving and having no insurance and was sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for two years. He was also banned from driving for two years and fined £515, including costs.
