HEALTH BOSSES are calling for an investigation after an elderly woman died after she stepped out of cab at the Christie Hospital in South Manchester.
The 77 year old woman fell backwards, was knocked unconscious and later died in what a police spokesman said, appeared to be a “tragic accident”.
A spokesman for the Christie NHS Foundation Trust said:
We can confirm that a 77 year old female arriving for an appointment by taxi, stumbled getting out of the taxi, fell backwards and hit her head. There was no obvious call for the fall, which was on hospital grounds, in a flat, tracked drop–off area by the main Oak Road entrance.
The woman was transferred to another hospital, where she sadly died. This was a tragic accident and our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time.
