ROYAL MAIL has moved further into the US parcel delivery service with the General Logistics Systems’ acquisition of Postal Express.

The 100 per cent £10.6 million buyout follows on from their purchase of Golden State Overnight Delivery in 2016.

Postal Express, which operates in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, generated revenue of around $42 million and delivered 8.7 million parcels in 2016.

The Financial Times say the firm could face scrutiny from investors after Deutsche Post DHL was forced to close down its delivery service in the US five years after buying Airborne Express.
