RESIDENTS OF Rio in Brazil will save cash after the city’s mobile taxi app 99 and metro company Metro Rio announced the launch of a joint discount card.
The new MetroRio 66 metrocard will give a $4 saving to cardholders for up to five taxi or private hire car rides ordered through the 99 app as well as five $4.50 subway train journeys for $20.
99’s Rio general manager Augusto Duarte said:
With this partnership, passengers can get out of a subway station and order a taxi or private car discounted by the 99 app to complement their way to get to work, home or elsewhere.
We are a Brazilian company and we want to create solutions to help people to move in a way that is cheaper, faster and safer. So, it really does make sense to partner with MetroRio, which is a company that has the same values of 99 in their DNA.
