WEST YORKSHIRE Police are appealing for information after a young family was lucky to escape from a fire, thought to be deliberate, in the city suburb of Hill Top Mount in Harehills.
A mother and her children, aged 14 and five, were rescued by firefighters and detectives believe a passing taxi driver could have vital information.
Detective inspector Dave McDougal of Leeds District CID said:
The blaze spread quickly through the downstairs of the house and if it hadn’t been for the courageous actions of the fire service, this incident could have had very tragic consequences. We are eager to speak to the driver of the black and white taxi, who we believe drove past the incident and carried on down Roundhay Road, towards Sheepscar.
Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact Leeds District CID on 101, quoting Operation Arrowminster, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
