A MINICAB DRIVER has been convicted at Milton Keynes Magistrates Court of picking up fare-paying passengers illegally.
Danish Haider was charged after a joint enforcement operation between Thames Valley Police and Milton Keynes Council’s taxi licence enforcement team.
Mr Haider was fined £30 for illegally plying for hire, £170 for having no insurance and a £30 victim surcharge. He was also ordered to pay £300 costs and given six penalty points on his driving licence.
The court heard that on 3 September 2016, compliance officers acting as members of the public engaged Mr Haider for a hire & reward journey in the centre of Milton Keynes.
Taxi enforcement officers from Thames Valley Police and Milton Keynes Council were waiting for the minicab driver at his destination and subsequent inquiries showed that the journey had not been pre-booked.
