A TAXI DRIVER who organised a protest in the city centre of Oxford – after he claimed he was sacked for taking part in trade union activity – has lost the first part of his legal fight against his former company 001 Taxis.

Mohammed Fadlalla worked for the cab company until January of this year and claimed he had been unfairly dismissed. But a judge agreed with 001 Taxis that he was self-employed because of his taxi licence.

Mr Fadlalla is a member of the GMB and the union is currently deciding whether or not to appeal.
