THE JUDGE hearing the legal challenge by the Licensed Private Hire Car Association (LPHCA) against TfL’s operator fee hike is due to give his ruling at 10 0’clock today. (Wednesday Feb 7).

Mr Justice Dingemans listened to evidence put forward by both sets of lawyers at Court 1 of the Royal Courts of Justice and will give his full judgement on an application by the LPHCA to halt the increase in operator licence costs proposed by TfL.

Commenting on TfL’s plan to put up cab firm licence fees to pay for 250 new compliance officers, Mr Justice Dingemans said:

There was always going to be a significant increase but was it proportionate and fair?

The legal fight looks set to rumble on however as the judge has asked both legal teams to clear their diaries for a judicial review hearing at the end of April.
