I afforded myself a little smile when I read the letter from an Uber driver in PHC last month.
“For sure the industry has been shaken up by the presence of Uber. As an operator I have lost a few drivers to them, as I do to other operators from time to time. But drivers have always sought greener grass.”
“It’s the nature of the business and so I am not as worried as other operators seem.”
One thing is for certain, having seen the latest fare structure released by them in February, I am not likely to start losing drivers to them based upon their rates. Forget time and distance – £1.25 per mile, really?
I just hope your writer wasn’t an Uber X driver – because he sure is going to have to do a lot of driving to make his fortune on those rates.
