CYCLE COURIERS in London are being warned – by a convicted bike thief – to lock their bicycles up properly or have them stolen by someone like him.
Speaking anonymously, the 20 year old, who says he is now reformed after an 18 month prison sentence, said: “Never use a chain, they’re too easy to snip.
“Use a small D-lock on front and back wheels. If your lock can be moved about that means the thief’s cutters can get around them. At the right angle they won’t.”
The former thief, who would go out with an accomplice at weekends – when the police were busy with drunks – says he now feels repentance for his life of cycle crime.
“I’m truly sorry to the people whose bikes that we took. Times were hard back then, but I am truly sorry.”
