JAGUAR LAND Rover (JLR) plans to develop a fleet of autonomous cabs and has invested $3m in San Francisco self-drive start-up company Voyage.

Voyage has trialled a fleet of robot-style vehicles in a number of large retirement villages in San Jose, California and Orlando and also has a licence to test cars without drivers on the public highway.

The $3m investment is being made by JLR’s investment arm InMotion Ventures and managing director Sebastian Peck said:

We believe JLR has the capability to quickly make self-driving, autonomous taxis in residential communities a reality.
