A FORMER MINICAB driver was fined £2,800 after he was caught driving a vehicle without a local authority PHV licence.
Mohammed Suhail Siddique (27) of Chesham was identified by compliance and enforcement officers from Chiltern District Council in Buckinghamshire, despite having his private hire licence revoked in 2014.
Siddique lost his licence for failing to comply with the council’s cab conditions but carried on working until he was caught by officials in a clampdown on touts.
Siddique pleaded guilty to driving a licensed private hire vehicle without the necessary licence and was ordered to pay a total of £2,380 in fines and costs.
A spokesman for Chiltern District Council said: “All drivers are required to wear their badge prominently when working and have a licence plate on their vehicle.
Passengers are advised to check that both the vehicle plate and driver badges are present and have not expired, before entering the vehicle.”
