SCOTTISH TAXI driver Jim Harris has alleged on Facebook that a man was accosting members of the public with a ‘fake’ cab licence badge in the centre of Dundee.

Mr Harris said: “It is very serious. Not having a taxi plate is a red flag straight away. All sorts of things were going through my head. He could be anybody.”

Chairman of the Dundee Taxi Association, Graeme Stephen, said:

This is a very serious matter and really quite concerning. Imagine if he had picked up passengers and then something had happened to them. The public really do have to be careful.

A spokesman for the police said: “Police Scotland can confirm that it has received a complaint from a Dundee taxi driver relating to a potentially unlicensed taxi operating in the city centre. Enquiries are ongoing into any potential licence issue.”
