A CORONER has ruled that a 37 year old man who died after crashing into a vehicle being driven by a taxi driver was driving too fast and two times over the legal drink drive limit.

Ebua Emmanuel was travelling at 47mph in a 30mph zone along Hempstead Road, Hemel Hempstead when he crashed into a taxi driven by Mr Gordon Fowler from Harrow.

Mr Fowler’s wife, daughter and dog were sitting in the back of the vehicle.

Mr Fowler had been travelling between 20mph to 25mph at the time of the incident.

He said: “I suddenly saw headlights a couple of hundred yards away. The direction the vehicle was going suddenly changed and came straight at me. It all happened too quickly.”

Coroner Edward Thomas ruled that Mr Emmanuel’s death was accidental and said: “This is an important message, not to drink and drive.”
