A NORTHERN Ireland hackney carriage driver has been praised for his prompt action after he saw a unknown man trying to petrol bomb a house in the Belfast suburb of Banbridge.
A spokesman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) thanked the taxi driver for alerting the authorities after the “sickening attack” on the home of a man with learning difficulties.
The PSNI spokesman added:
A vulnerable young man severe learning difficulties was woken by the sound of his upstairs bedroom window smashing as he lay in bed. This was immediately followed by a petrol bomb, thrown as the hole in the now broken window. Thankfully, the disgusting creature who threw it, missed and it set alight against the outside of there window and the sill below.
Detectives are appealing for information about a small dark car seen leaving the area at the time of the attack.
