A WEST COUNTRY taxi firm operator has been sent to prison after he was found guilty of driving while disqualified for the seventh time.

Western Court in Stoke Gifford heard that detectives gave chase and arrested Jetenderpal Singh after they saw him driving a Mercedes sports car at speed in Bristol Road.

The taxi boss was clocked at 60mph in a 30mph and when cornered, damaged a police car by reversing into it.

Recorder Mr Atkinson QC jailed Mr Singh for 11 months and said:

The court has taken a lenient course with you many times before but this is your seventh time while disqualified. You have slowed down in your offending but I am concerned as to whether you truly appreciate the gravity of these offences.

Singh was also banned from driving for 18 months and told to take an extended driving test.
