TAXI DRIVERS demonstrating against Uber brought the Brazilian capital Brasilia to a standstill.

Over 1,000 cabbies drove slowly past the National Congress building and held up traffic with vehicles painted in colours representing cities across the country.

The taxi drivers want the Government to ban Uber because of a drop in wages, as customers vote with their wallet and book cheaper journeys through the American cab app company.

Uber operates in the Brazilian cities of Sao Paulo, Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro and according to a spokesman: “Views Brazil and other parts of Latin America as a growth area.”
