Police in Australia remain baffled as to how a truck driver, thought to have been killed in a horrific crash, turned up alive 30 hours later in a farmer’s shed, almost 10 miles from the scene of the accident.
Investigators assumed the 51-year-old driver had been killed when a vehicle smashed into the front of his truck and burst into flames.
Police believed his body was trapped in the charred wreckage.
The 26-year-old man driving the four-wheel-drive vehicle died at the scene. His 17-year-old passenger was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A farmer found the driver on his property, 10 miles away at 4pm the following day.
Sergeant Amos said:
We’re trying to piece together his movement from the time of the crash to the time when he was located by the farmer. There’s some 30-odd hours when we don’t know where he’s been.
Farmer, Graeme Presser, said:
I was looking for parts in a shed when the truck driver approached me. I didn’t see him, I must have woken him up. It’s just such an amazing story.
The lorry driver was taken to hospital with a number of injuries including cuts, bruises and burns to his body.
