DETECTIVES ARE appealing for witnesses after a taxi driver was spat at and punched in the Colchester suburb of Heybridge.
A police spokesman said the 56 year old cabbie had been driving along Goldhanger Road when he became aware of an unknown vehicle behind him, fashing his lights and sounding his horn.
The driver of the car overtook the taxi and started an argument with him outside the Mill Beach public house. He then got out of his car, spat at the victim and punched him in the face.
The police spokesman added:
The suspect is described as being in his early 30s, around 6ft tall and of large build. He has dark hair, was wearing dark clothing and spoke with a local accent.
The man was driving a dark, small hatchback car, but the make or model of car is not known. Witnesses or anyone with information should call PC Martin on 101.
