CAB COMPANIES Nihon Kotsu and Daiwa Motor Transportation have announced a plan to take on e-hail rivals Uber and Lyft with their own internet vehicle despatch solution.
Nihon Kotsu’s app allows customers to choose pick-up and drop-off locations in the Japanese capital while it searches for other passengers on-route to similar destinations.
While Daiwa’s service offers 30 pre-determined pick-up points for customers who want to create their own, ‘ride schedule’.
Both apps require customers to pre-register credit cards and will at first only be available in Japanese. Nihon Kotsu marketing executive Tatsuya Uehara said:
We want to start with Japanese users and potentially expand the service to include the growing number of inbound tourists that visit Japan each year.
