A FEMALE ITALIAN cabbie drove an eight year old bone cancer sufferer from Italy to England so she could part in a children’s charity event in Essex.
Caterina Bellandi (51) drove Giada in her taxi from Florence to take part in the London Taxi Drivers’ Fund For Underprivileged Children’s annual convoy to the seaside town of Southend.
She threw herself into charity work after her husband Stefano died and passed on his vehicle – Milano 25 – to her.
She said: “The man I loved, Stefano, told me before he died, ‘You will be Milano 25, you will be my work’.
“I was scared and I started this journey not knowing how to do it and where to go. I just wanted Milano 25 to still be a part of the lives of others.”
